“We did not know that the building will collapse. By about 2:00am when the building came down, some of our co-tenants were trapped, while some were dead,’’ She divulged, while giving details of the early warnings and signs from the collapsed building.”

As at 2:00am ,a 3-storey building located at   29B, Oloto Street, off Cemetery Road,Ebute Metta area of Lagos collapsed yesterday(Thursday Morning) . Ten dead bodies have so far been pulled out of the rubble while 7 people, including two children have been rescued alive. Many people are said to be trapped under the rubble as rescue efforts from the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) ,Nigerian Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Red Cross, NEMA, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency,LASEMA, the state Fire Service, as well as other able bodied men of the area are involved in the ongoing rescue operation.

Confirming the incident, Spokesperson ofthe National Emergency Management Agency,NEMA, South-West, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, disclosed that the Agency was informed that the collapsed building began cracking at about1:30am and collapsed at exactly 2:00am with six people already confirmed dead, while six others were pulled out alive, with minor injuries.
Emergency worker are still working towards rescuing anyone that might likely be trapped in the debris.

One Miss Dalikis Abdulamid, 23, who wasalso rescued from the building disclosed that she was at the balcony of the second floor when the incident happened.
She confirmed that she was rescued alongside her mother and her four siblings who have already been taken to the hospital for proper treatment. Isnt she lucky ?
